Linda Stake was elected the DAV Auxiliary National Commander in August 2015 and has called the DAV Auxiliary her "home" since 1998.
We would like to share the sentiments from her home chapter in Arkansas.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of National Commander Linda Stake. Honor, grace, and dignity are just three of the words that even begin to describe this wonderful woman. Since her election to the office of DAV Auxiliary National Commander in August 2015, she has led our organization with abundant skill, the grace of a caring and compassionate woman, and immeasurable dignity and poise.
An Arkansas native, her DAV Auxiliary journey began in 1998 when she found a “home” with the local Auxiliary where she could work side by side with others in the cause for veterans’ rights advocacy. In the seven years prior, she had first-hand experience working to assure her husband received the medical treatment to which he was entitled.
For Linda, the organization was a family; working together for a common cause. More importantly, though, she instilled the importance of veterans’ advocacy, community service, and volunteerism in her own family. DAV and
DAVA have become a way of life for the Stake family from Linda and her husband, Charles, on down through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Near and dear to Linda’s heart were the caregivers and families whose lives have been altered as a result of their loved ones’ injuries while serving their country.
DAV Auxiliary wishes for comfort and peace for Linda’s family as we move forward and continue her quest for veterans and their families. — feeling sad."
